I recently invited to be a guest on the LDS Living podcast, “All In,” hosted by Morgan Jone, to discuss my experience being excommunicated from the Church. I joined another guest, Perri, who was recently excommunicated and seeking to be readmitted to the Church.
We wanted to share our stories and started blogging about our experiences and found ourselves talking about them with the host in order to show that those who have been excommunicated or disaffected from the Church can indeed return.
It was an amazing experience for me and I hope it answers some questions about excommunication and returning to one’s faith.

E20: Experiencing Excommunication with Perri Correia and Rory Mele
“Excommunication. It’s something we don’t talk about much within the Church but what motivates someone to return to Church membership after excommunication? What is the purpose of excommunication from the perspective of those who have experienced it? This is what we discuss with two men who have experienced excommunication firsthand on this week’s episode of “All In.””

I just listened to this interview through the All in podcast app. Your words touched me so deeply. You are a great example to all of us who are trying to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love how you said that we are all on the same path, but some of us trip over different sized rocks. And your summation of what it means to be “all in” the gospel of Jesus Christ, nailed it! I need to find that scripture that you referenced, so good!! I wish the best to you, your wife and children. Thank you again!

Melanie, thank you so much for listening to it, and if you can please share it, I hope it can reach and bless others. This blog is dedicated to sharing my story and I hope it can help others come forward out of the darkness they may find themselves in.
Those on the path of God are all definitely on the gospel path, but some are close to the edge, some take the more difficult climbs and ridges, and all of us have different obstacles anand rocks we get caught up on and trip over. Some of us even help others fall over their obstacles and some help others on their climbs.
That scripture can be found in Alma 22! Thank you again and I hope you the best in this life. God bless!
